Street to Home Project
The Street to Home Project by VEF is a compassionate, community-based initiative designed to support individuals experiencing homelessness by guiding them from life on the streets to stable housing, dignity, and self-reliance. In line with SDG 11, which is focused on making cities and human development inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
Project Goal
To reduce street homelessness by providing holistic support that enables individuals to transition safely from the streets into stable homes and sustainable livelihoods
- To provide immediate humanitarian assistance to people living on the streets.
- To offer temporary shelter and psychosocial support
- To facilitate access to healthcare, legal documentation, and social services
- To equip beneficiaries with employable skills and income opportunities
- To support placement into safe, permanent housing
Homelessness remains a critical challenge in rural and urban areas characterised by poverty, unemployment, lack of affordable housing, mental health issues, substance dependency, and social exclusion. Individuals living on the streets are exposed to violence, illness, stigma, and chronic instability. Without structured intervention, many remain trapped in a cycle of homelessness and vulnerability.
